MAHALO

Mahalo (mainly in Hawaii) an expression of gratitude

Welcome back swim families - and after the past 1 ½ years – we could not think of a more appropriate phrase than Mahalo!  Special THANK YOU to all health care heroes, educators, essential workers, scientists, parents and kids – without you and your perseverance, support and dedication, we would not be celebrating this fun summer tradition that our 5 clubs have honored for nearly 50 years!

And just like the past 18 months, this summer’s league meet will have a few new “tweaks” to our annual traditions.  But like many things with COVID-19, we may welcome some new traditions!  The following outlines our 2021 changes…

GENERAL LEAGUE MEET OVERVIEW:

·    League meet will be spread out over 2 days (Saturday & Sunday) with swimmers broken out by age groups vs traditional one day event

·    While start times are actuals, end times have been approximated:

o  Saturday 9:00am ~ Noon:           10 and Under

o  Saturday 3:00pm ~ 5:00pm:      11-12

o  Sunday 9:00am ~ Noon:              13 and Over

·    Warm-ups will begin approx 90 minutes before each session

·    See Schedule of Events for specific event details

·    No early tent city set-up the Friday before

o  Clubs will still have designated “areas” for all their swimmers

o  Tents/ umbrellas allowed within your designated club area

o  If families have swimmers that extend over multiple sessions – tents CAN remain in place

o  Colony will have lifeguards providing watch over grounds Saturday night (not the usual Friday night)

·    There WILL be an “opening ceremony” at beginning of each session

o  The National Anthem will kick-off each of the 3 sessions

o  Followed by ~ 1 minute per club for “loud” team cheer - no parade
