2019 Colony Swim Team Information
Welcome to the Colony Crocodiles 2019 swim season! The Colony Swim Team is a fun way for your child to participate in a great team sport, meet new friends, and improve their swimming skills. We are looking for kids to join our team. Please review the following information below and complete the online registration form as well as a commitment form by June 1st for early registration.
NEW! Parent Portal/Registration Process
New this year, we have modernized our registration and swim team management functions by partnering with “Active Hy-tek”, a cloud-based software that is an all-in-one portal which makes the registration process smoother and more secure. ACTIVE is the leader in online event registrations and you will now be required to pay online with a check or credit card. PLEASE NOTE - There is a convenience of 4.95% assessed to all check and credit card payments. Any refunds made after the season begins, will be less the processing fee.
Each family will have their own parent portal where you will be able to sign up for volunteer jobs, view your child’s times (allow a few days after the meet), declare your meet commitments and more!
Swim Team Fee
Swim team fees for 2019 will be $40 per swimmer (approximately $42 with the processing fee) with a family maximum of $120. Graduating seniors and eligible returning college students who have at least 2 years previous experience with the Colony Crocodiles are $20. This fee helps to cover the cost of dual meet ribbons, our pancake breakfast, league meet & end of season awards.
Swim Team Parent Meeting
We will hold a brief informational meeting to prepare for the upcoming season Monday, May 20 at Colony Swim Club. The Parent Meeting will begin at 7:00pm. Our swimsuit vendor will be available (Sun & Snow) at 6:00pm with the 2019 team suit for fittings and discounted sales. Please plan to have at least one parent attend this important kick-off meeting and bring your swimmer for sizing.
New Swim Team Members
If you are brand new to the Colony Swim Team please plan to attend our new member evaluation Saturday, June 8 @ 10:00am. Our coaches would like to meet all our new swimmers prior to our first official team practice. Bring your suit & goggles!
Swim Practice Schedule
Monday – Friday starting Monday, June 17
8:00-9:00 am - 11 years and older
9:00–10:00 am – 10 & younger
Please attend the appropriate practice for your age group unless cleared by one of our head coaches
We ask that all parents, siblings, and caregivers stay off the pool deck during practice for safety reasons
No practice will be held July 4th or 5th
Our dual meets are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings through the end of July (see schedule). Check in begins a 4:45. Host clubs may deny entrance to the pool deck before 4:45 in preparation for the meet. Please be patient. Once admitted, look for the Colony Crocodile Flag. Swimmers who are not checked in by 5:15 may be scratched from the meet. If you are going to be late, PLEASE text the swim team coordinator or one of the coaches ASAP. DO NOT EMAIL as we don’t always check emails before the meet. Swimmers may begin warming up at 5:00pm. Events start at 6:00pm.
For a swimmer to participate they must be able to safely swim the distance required of their age bracket. A coach will let you know ahead of time if they believe your child is not yet ready.
Marshalling is different this year than it has been in the past. There will not be a designated marshalling area. More information will follow. Please make sure your child knows when he/she has to swim or risk your child missing his/her event. We will not search for your child which could result in a missed race.
There are times when we need to contact you at a meet. Please make sure we have your cell phone number on file.
NEW! Pre-Season Clinics
This year we are offering pre-season clinics. This is a great refresher for swimmers who don’t swim year-round. Coach Kate will provide your swimmer with tips for efficient stroke technique. The clinics will be $10 per swimmer per clinic and will be held the week of June 3rd at 6:15-7:00.
Monday – Freestyle
Tuesday – Breaststroke
Wednesday – Backstroke
Thursday – Butterfly
Friday – Starts and Turns
Registrations will be taken until the day before the clinic begins. There will be a maximum of 20 swimmers per clinic. To register, click here

We rely heavily on volunteers to make sure that each meet runs smoothly. This cannot happen without the assistance of our swim team families. It is required that each family volunteer two times throughout the season as well as provide items for the bake sale during home meets. Registration electronically through will be accessible through the family portal on our team page. Early sign-up is recommended.
We also host a bake sale at all of our home meets. Please bring an item to contribute. More information to follow.
Team Spirit Wear
Spirit wear orders will be available online! More information will be coming out soon!
Caps: Only Colony caps or plain non-printed caps may be worn at meets. Back by popular demand are personalized swim caps. We will only be putting in one order for these because the lead-time is so long. NO ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DEADLINE, MAY 31. More information will be available at the Team Meeting.
Swimsuits: Swimsuits will be available for purchase at the Parent Team Meeting through our swimsuit vendor Sun & Snow. Orders placed after the deadline may not be in until after the season begins. If you plan on purchasing a team suit, order early. We encourage all swimmers to have a team suit and cap but it is not required. If you do not get a team suit, we ask that non team suits should keep with the family friendly environment we support at Colony and contain the team colors (green and black).
Mailboxes/ Family Folder
Each family will have a mailbox folder. They are located near the swim team bulletin board inside the clubhouse. Please check this folder for announcements, important information, and your meet ribbons.
Swim Team Helpers
Swim team members 11 and older and who have swim team experience of 2 or more seasons are encouraged to stay from 9:00 to 10:00 and help our younger swimmers during practice. Volunteers are expected to help and coaches have full discretion to not let a swim team member help if they are fooling around or not taking their job seriously. There will be a volunteer breakfast to show our appreciation. All volunteers are welcome. Helpers who have assisted in twelve or more practices by July 19 will be recognized.
Fire Up Pancake Breakfast
The team will have a fire up pancake breakfast during practice on Thursday, July 25. Pancakes will be served and a small poster board will be provided. Swimmers are encouraged to bring a full poster board and any special supplies they may need to decorate their posters. Please make sure your poster is appropriate and demonstrates good sportsmanship.
This year’s League Meet will be held at Newburgh Swim Club. It is the final meet of the year and includes all five swim clubs! It is a fabulous all day event and an opportunity for swimmers to demonstrate the improvements they have made this season. Swimmers must participate in two dual meets in order to qualify for the League Meet. This year’s League Meet is scheduled for Saturday, July 27.
Awards Banquet & Team Photo
Following the League Meet we will have the end of season banquet. Dinner, awards and music are planned for the evening. Swimmers who have demonstrated significant improvement, perfect attendance at practice, participation in all dual meets, or participation in the League Meet will be recognized. Only those families who have registered for the banquet may attend. Look for more information in your family folder as the date approaches. A team picture will be taken and a photographer will be available for individual pictures. Please wear your team suit or a green, black or dark colored suit for the photo.
