Job Description - Head Swim Team Coach

Position Summary

Colony Swim Club is accepting applications for a head coach position for its 2019 summer swim team season.  The program runs from mid-June through the end of July. The Colony Swim Team consists of 200-250 swimmers between the ages of 4-18.  Colony Swim Team is part of the SISL (Summer Independent Swim League).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads daily morning practices

  • Sets up lineups and attends all swim meets during the season. (typically, there are 1-2 swim meets per week during the 6 week long swim season.  There is also an all day league meet and banquet at the end of the season.)

  • Maintains regular communication with the other head coach and assistant coach, parents, the Swim Team Coordinator and Colony Swim Club’s Board of Directors

  • Represents Colony Swim Club at annual SISL coaches meeting

  • Teaches proper competitive swimming techniques

  • Maintains a fun and inviting learning environment to ensure a positive member experience

  • Fosters a positive team environment that emphasizes good sportsmanship

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate

  • Ability to work flexible hours

  • Availability between Memorial Day through the end of July

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Maturity and ability to interact well with people of all ages

Qualifications listed below, while not necessarily a requirement for this position in each circumstance, provide additional depth and value to the role.

  • Prior experience as an assistant or head swim coach

  • Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification

  • Life Guard Instructor (LGI) Certification

  • Prior Competitive Swimming Experience
